I am woman!! Hear me roar?!

Last week I lost a ring and an earring down my bathroom sink. We don't have a sink stopper… so they just disappeared down this dark black hole. The ring actually got caught on something, and when I was trying to get it out, I just pushed it down farther. GRRR!

Well, when I was home at my parents this weekend, my dad was telling me how to get under my sink and get into the pipes to get my ring and earring back.
I went to Fred Meyer to get pliers to loosen the PVC pipe connectors under the sink. My friend Traci's dad came last Friday and loosened one part with his hand… I just had to do the other part.

Well, it was really hard because I had really big pliers and there wasn't a lot of room under the sink. I was struggling to loosen one part and I was getting so frustrated. I kept hitting my head, and it smelled bad, I could hear the ring and the earring jingling around and Traci was laughing at me. I was so mad... at one point I just yelled out, "I NEED A BOYFRIEND TO DO THIS FOR ME!!!!!!!"

There was NO ONE I could call. No dad, no brother, no boyfriends, not even a strong male friend… NOTHING. Just me and Traci. WE spent about 45 minutes trying to loosen this pipe connection when I noticed that one part of the straight pipe was loose so I just twisted that part off and took it out.

Then I just had to get down into the curvy part of the pipe and scoop out the jewelry. Well, easier said than done. There was so much CRAP in the pipes, I just wanted to VOMIT! I couldn't believe I was doing this.

I ended up taking a wire hanger and made a hook. On the third try, I pulled the ring out. Then there was the earring, which was smaller and had nothing to hook onto, a little bit more of a challenge. I took a vacuum and put it on the top of the pipe and just sucked out the grossest stuff you have ever seen… everything but the earring. It SMELLED SO BAD I wanted to die.

At this point I was almost in tears and just so completely frustrated. I wanted this earring back because it had sentimental value and I was so close. I tried the vacuum one more time… this time I heard a noise… ka-dunk dunk… so I stopped the vacuum, opened it up and there was the EARRING!!!!!!!!!!

I did it! I was able to get my ring and earring without being able to take apart all of the plumbing under the sink.

It was the greatest feeling and I was so happy. But then… I had to put the sink back together. It took me 3 times because the first two times, the pipes leaked. But third time's the charm. And then I had a gigantic mess to clean up.

But I was still really proud of myself with the assistance of the lovely Traci. because I did it all by myself and without the help of a man. I'm not saying I don't need men… a boyfriend would be nice. And if he ever dropped anything down the sink… he wouldn't need a plumber. Just his girlfriend! ;)
